THE SIXTH BRIJUNI CONFERENCE
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES ON
INTERDISCIPLINARY TOPICS IN SCIENCE
END OF CENTURY STATE OF SCIENCE

Brijuni National Park
This series of conferences is aimed at bringing together scientists
and students from a range of disciplines related both directly and indirectly
to a specific topic at the interface between physics and chemistry.
THE SIXTH BRIJUNI conference will try to summarize the
essential areas of science which shaped the human knowledge in the XX-Th.
century, and their state at this moment in time. The advances, which were
made in this century and the optimism in the power of human scientific
reasoning as opposed to the darkest events in the history of civilization,
perhaps will never be repeated. It is therefore proper time to look back
and review what have we learned.
The areas, which will be covered, are:
-
Quantum world at its extreme: ultracold collisions
and BEC
-
Exploring the ultimate: early Universe
-
Computer power: is chemistry a solved problem?
-
The quest for the origin of life: complexity
of biological systems
-
Exploring the tiniest: the ultimate constituents
of matter
-
Between the stars and the planets: molecules
in Space
-
Exploring the complexity from simplicity: atoms,
molecules, clusters and beyond
-
Radiation-matter interaction: it all started
with it
-
The Attractors of Future - What do we want
the XXI-St. century to be, and how?
Topics of the previous conferences
Brioni86: Collision dynamics of clusters
and long-lived states
Brioni88: Molecular astrophysics
Brioni90: Radiation/matter interactions
Brioni93: Structure, dynamics and the
states of matter
Brioni95: Complexity and order in matter
